Why Balsfjord
Balsfjord lies between Tromsø, Lyngen and the inland valleys, with Nordkjosbotn as the crossroads where the E8 from Tromsø meets the E6. Many visitors stay in cabins here for darker skies and quieter surroundings than in the city – and need skis or snowshoes once they arrive.

Where you pick up
The gear is kept at Seljelvnes in Balsfjord, on the E8 about 70 km (roughly 1 h 15 min by car) south of Tromsø city centre. You can also choose the free meeting point at the Coop Extra Nordkjosbotn parking lot, about 10 minutes further on where the E8 meets the E6 – easy to find and open to the public. You get the exact address, pickup time and the owner's phone number as soon as you book. Pickup is easiest if you have a car or are driving on towards Lyngen or Senja.
